My first official day off since September

Today I was exceptionally lazy. Jason and I bought a new house in the spring and have only spent a few months since then in it, so every minute I get to be home is exciting! Especially since we got this propane fireplace hooked up!! Of course, I would love a real fireplace - the crackling sounds, the warm sweet wood burning smell, the pops and sparks - but the insurance on one is astronomical, at least a bit too astronomical for a musician just starting out. Someday though, I hope to have at least 3 real fireplaces! Now that's living the high life!

One thing I love about Nova Scotia, the province here in Canada where I live, is that the days are often snugly tucked between the cool, rocky ground below and a protective cover of gray clouds above. I always feel like doing nothing but hunkering down with a good book! So this morning after I got up and did the minimal amount of a morning routine that I had to do, I sat here by the fire and read. I polished off one book and am on the second. The first one really wasn't that great, to be honest, so let's not dwell on it. I'm about to start a new book. I have a huge list of books and am making my way through it. I absolutely need to read Wuthering Heights. Have you read it? What did you think?

Someone once told me that people that read a lot are actually more interested in escaping their own reality. I guess this is true, as I often like to read on the bus, in the van or on a plane.

Confession: I want to write a book. I've actually been working on an idea for a year on and off. It's fun to write a story, or rather think a story. I like imagining things, and spending time inside this imaginary world I've made. When I'm not reading, I'm working on this book idea. I really like some of the characters I've created. It's amazing to hear authors talk about how the characters become real people to them. I've been feeling that lately... The question is weather or not anyone else will care about my characters the way I do. Weather or not anyone does care, this is fun for me. It's an escape (when I'm available to escape!)

One more day and we're back on the road. I am so happy to be home, but I can't wait to get back out there!

I am going to get back to my book, my fire and my blanket.

Till I sing for you,
Meaghan
