I spent an amazing week in New York. I met with some amazing stylists who took me under their very fashionable wings and taught me about mixing and matching beautiful clothes, belts, broaches, shoes, and the odd pair of gloves. I then did a photo shoot for the new album with a brilliant photographer, Jennifer Tzar at a mystical monastery in NY. Then I shot four videos in two days! I worked with a really fantastic up and coming director, Roboshobo , and an incredible team of people who all worked together to pull off this amazing feat. I’m so excited about the videos! Three of the four are going to have animated elements in them, I can’t wait to see them! One of my bestest friends, Rawls , is going to be animating a wee bird character on the song I Know. Check his stuff out, he’s amazing!
The videos are going to be released in September along with the songs on an EP, so stay tuned for that! It’s coming….

Things for the album release are gearing up. I’m feeling really positive about the direction I’m going in and can’t wait to tell you about all the exciting stuff I have going on! I’m working with a really great animator/director to come up with some video ideas. We are putting together 5 visual components for 5 songs, and I am having a blast! The release is still planned for this summer. I’m also thinking of changing the album title to something a little more fitting for what I think the album means to me. More later when I've made up my mind for sure. So things are up and rolling, and I’m rolling right along with them!
See you soon…

My song 5 More Minutes is going to be featured on Grey's Anatomy on May 1st 2008!!! I'm a huge fan, so this is a really big deal for me! If you watch, I hope you enjoy!
Things are coming together. Ok, first off, I signed a deal with Sire Records (Warner America)!! I'm really thrilled to be working with them, they seem like a great bunch of people that get what it is I want to do, and I have faith in their ability to make my vision of my music a reality. Michael Goldstone and Holly Adams are two people I can't wait to get to know better.
Secondly, I'm thrilled to be working with Coleen Novak, Terry McBride and Ari Martin for management! They're part of the Netwerk team and I feel like I'm in very capable hands.
My team is coming together so nicely. I've got a great booking agent for Canada and Mexico in Shaw Saltzburg (Feldman), some great lawyers and a very good accountant. I'm still working out the American booking agent and publishing, but I have no doubt that these people will be equally as great as everyone else I'm so fortunate to work with!
So… The album is coming out in August of this year and I can barely wait!!
Anyways, thank you to everybody who is still hanging in here with me! I'm so lucky to have such devoted friends and fans.

March 1st 2008
I’m home for a brief spell… In the past month I’ve been to Vancouver, Montreal, New York City, and now heading back to Los Angeles! It’s exciting to go to new places and feel what the combined emotions and experiences of the people living there have turned their cities into. I’m working with a management company on a trial period, so that’s started to figure itself out, and am looking through record deals! Things are happening finally! The end of the tunnel is in sight and this little album will be out soon… Not soon enough! In the mean time, I’m writing for the second one. I’m amazed at all I still have to say. Weather or not people will want to listen is yet to be seen…
I met Sarah Mclachlan along with her manager Terry McBride and Mark Jowett who runs the Nettwerk Label in Vancouver! I also had the pleasure of hanging out with Ashwin Sood, Sarah’s husband and Coleen Novak, Sarah’s manager. Meeting Sarah was nothing short of breath taking for me. She was my first musical connection. Her songs were the first to take me away into myself, and meeting her was an honour. She is down to earth, centred, lovely! I hope to have many more such pleasant encounters…
Montreal has become one of my favourite cities. Not just for the food… (for the love of Pete, THE FOOD!!!) but also because of the people that live there. Jason and I stayed with Kid Koala and his lovely wife. We also spent time with Kola's manager Rhyna Thompson and her husband Vid, both amazing, gracious folks. I think I have found in Rhyna a soul mate! We share birthdays and a love of soup among many other strange coincidences! You may laugh, but to Rhyna and I, it’s substantial! Koala has fast become one of my closest musical confidants. I cherish his generosity and guidance.
New York, at least the 27 hours I spent there, was nothing short of incredible! My meetings there were interesting and eventful. I can’t say much about that until things are worked out or not... It’s early to tell. But I will tell…
My upcoming trip to Los Angeles will be one I will not soon to forget, in fact, I think I will only believe it has happened AFTER it happens. Again, I’ll tell you why soon…
To those who are my anchors, thank you. Mickey, Glenn, the Steph and Kev Sunday night crowd, Eric, Rhyna, Nancy, Sarah… I would be a tiny sail boat lost in a giant sea if it were not for you!
See you soon…

January is upon me in full force here in snowy-rainy-all-weather-all-the-time-Halifax. Many of you are wondering where on earth my album is! Well, it’s done, and ready for you. I’m in the process of putting together an amazing team to help me release, market, tour and launch Take Me Dancing. It’s going to be a lot of fun and is a very exciting time for me! I’m learning a lot about the music industry world and the people that make it what it is… It’s extremely educational! I feel a little bit like Alice in Wonderland...Things are not always as they seem and the landscape is constantly changing so drastically! I’m in the thick of offers and meetings and the whole entire crazy whirlwind is sweeping me off my feet! So it’s going to take a little while to get sorted out. In the mean time, I have a smattering of shows and would like to invite you all to come to them! And please feel free to drop me a line at any time! I’d love to hear from you. Thank you for your patience… In the words of my colluege Rose Cousins, it’sgonnabegreat!

Well, here is the skinny on the album. Take Me Dancing is finished! I’m SO thrilled with the final product and can’t wait to get it out to you! Some very exciting things are happening with the album; interesting ears are hearing it and Take Me Dancing is making its way into new territories. I think some major things are going to happen for this little album. So please bear with me. It will be worth it! More news to come when I’m at liberty to share.

I just got home from one of the best concerts of my life! Rose Cousins, Jill Barber and I were absolutely thrilled to perform our Christmas album, A New Kind Of Light to a sold out Rebecca Cohn! The audience was so gracious and really made the evening spectacular. Thanks to everyone that came out to the concert and/or bought a CD. And a special thanks to everybody that bought armloads of CDs for us to sign after the concert! A New Kind of Light has been selling brilliantly and thanks to everyone’s efforts, maritime food banks will have plenty of food to share this Christmas and throughout the year. Much love to everybody that has made this such a wonderful evening for me and for the food banks!

My apologies for the severe neglect of this website and for the confusion surrounding my release date! My new album, called TAKE ME DANCING, is now going to be released in January and not a moment later! I promise! There are lots of reasons, but the most important one being that I want everything to be perfect so that when you finally hear it, you will be totally satisfied!
I have a smattering of dates coming up, some in Nova Scotia, and a few in Ontario. Check out my live dates page for details! I will be sending out notices along with special pre-release deals to those who are on my mailing list so if you’re not on it yet, please join!

I'm going to be showcasing my brand new songs in front of a live audiance on July 9th as part of a new and exciting show called East Coast Sessions! Here's the low-down:
CBC will feature some of Atlantic Canada’s finest musicians in a new television series, EAST COAST SESSIONS, to be taped in front of a live studio audience at CBC television in Halifax, July 4-12 at 8 p.m.
EAST COAST SESSIONS will showcase two musical acts in each of the six half hour episodes which will air in the upcoming 2007-2008 season. I am lucky enough to get to play with David Myles!
“This is a series for music lovers. It’s a great showcase for some of the brilliant musical talent in this region – some familiar performers, but some new faces too. We’re really excited about producing it here at the CBC,” says Geoff D’Eon, executive producer of Arts and Entertainment for CBC Television.
“The line up is really strong. All of these singer-songwriters will be backed up by top-notch musicians. We expect to add some surprise guests too, so the live audiences on these six nights are in for a treat,” added D’Eon.
Each live taping is open to the public and tickets are free. To attend a taping, contact: Alberta Dube at 420-4752 or dubea@cbc.ca. Please leave your name, contact number, show date and number of seats requested. All requests will be confirmed by phone.
Tapings for EAST COAST SESSIONS begin at 8 p.m. sharp and are expected to wrap up by 10 p.m. Doors open at 7:30pm.
Hope to see you there!!

Well, I'm down to my last couple of boxes of Lost With Directions. That little album has done big things for me and I'm looking forward to moving on to my next batch of songs. I'm going to be playing live very soon in support of my dear friend Jill Barber and will have a chance to try a few of them on for you. I'm still working on the new album. Yes, I know, it's taking a long time but it will be worth it!

Life is whirling, whirling, whirling by! I have been so caught up in recording, listening, mixing, worrying, listening, thinking, and listening to my new music that I have not noticed the months flying by. My apologies for neglecting you so. But just to prove that I have indeed been working on the album I've been talking about for 2 years now, may I be so bold as to redirect you to my myspace page? There you will find 3 of my new songs! And there's more where that came from... Soon my dears, soon... Maybe an October release.

Long time no write! I’m sorry… I’ve been neglecting you. Some friends have been asking me where I’ve been and what I’m up to these days. Let me tell you! I’ve been in Toronto for the past 2 months recording my new album! I’ve been working with my friend Les Cooper and we are finally done recording! Now it all just needs to be edited, mixed, mastered, pressed, aaaaaaaaaannddd…release!! I hope to have something to put in your hot little hands by October. In the mean time, I’m laying a little low. I’ll keep you posted on any shows I may take. See you soon!

Things are starting to slow down... and speed up at the same time. I don't have much lined up in the way of shows for the next few months, but please believe me when I say I have a few things on the burner. Hopefully I'll be back with a bang. In the mean time, check out my sisters in music here on the East Coast, Rose Cousins and Jill Barber. Both whom have done beautiful, inspiring amazing albums. And as a tribute to you Rose, I'm going to tell everyone what's in my player.
Well... Rose Cousins - can't get enough!
a sneak peek of Jill Barber's new one - Um... AMAZING.
Shawn Colvin - These Four Walls - breaks my heart.
And a dash of Hank Snow.- I like researching and "studying" musicians... I'm looking him up these days.
Well, I'm off to proove myself. See you in time...

I love Stanfest! It was just like band camp... For those of you who couldn't make it, I feel for you. I met and saw so
many amazing musicians!! Some new friends, and some old. A few must see people were:
Lindsay Jane, a woman with a voice and lyrics to break your
heart!
Luke Doucet,a monster guitar player and gifted lyricist and
singer.
Kim Barlow, who won me over instantly with
her witty lyrics and quirky banjo laced tunes.
Karen and Helene,a heavenly duo from Denmark who sing like
Angels.
Ember Swift, a poignant songwriter indeed, an accomplished
musician, performer, and person in general! Lyndell Montgomery her partner played electric violin, bass guitar and bowed
guitar - it was absolutely amazing to see!
Haley Sales, a young, beautiful up-and-comer... Keep your eye on this one!
James Keelaghan, one of the best storytellers in song that I
have heard in a long time!
Annie Gallup, who I was privileged to play a showcase with and
was so impressed with her witty lyrics and humour.
Valdy, a great professional in the industry, a kind and talented
man.
There were so many more that I have not listed, check out the Stanfest website to see more! We had very co-operative weather (for Canso) and it only rained once. I hope to be a part of Stanfest again, either to perform or to watch. Thanks to the great crowds and many volunteers who helped out. Don't miss it next year!
June 22 2006
Well, this is it! I’m going home for a wee jaunt and will be playing a special show in my hometown of London Ontario on July 22 at Belle Air Music! The show starts at 8 pm and will feature a few very special guests. I’m excited and nervous all at once, but mostly excited to see all my old friends again. If you want to make sure you’re there, pick up your tickets from Belle Air music, located at 364 Richmond St. London Ontario, or call during normal business hours (519) 433-6173. Can’t wait to get home to see you all!
May 15, 2006
Hey everybody! It’s very sunny today, there is a beautiful breeze flowing through my open window and I can hear the neighborhood kids playing ball. It’s such a satisfying sound, the bounce of a basketball. It makes me want to go see if they need another player. Although, I’d most likely get my butt kicked. It’s been a while.
I just got back from playing (music, not basketball) with my dear friends Rose Cousins and Jill Barber, both whom inspire me and whom I love singing with! We ended up doing a few songs of our own and then coming together to do some good old country classics. We had a lovely time at the Pearl Theatre in Lunenburg and a most pleasant evening at the Evergreen Theatre in Margret(s)ville. (The “s” is a bit of an issue as we soon found out when we asked which the locals preferred…) I’m looking forward to going out with them again sometime, but till then have some other shows lined up away from the city. If you know of anyone who might be interested in coming out, please pass a long the word!

Hello folks. I just got home from the Bringin’ It Home Tour, and I would just like to say that it was the best tour I've been on by far! My good man Dave Gunning put on a great show every night as did the ever-talented Steven Bowers. On Thursday night, the good people of Sherbrooke welcomed us with open arms and hearts. We had a wonderfully intimate show in the old Courthouse, a building situated in a village chalk full of history. Then it was off to Marion Bridge, one of the loveliest little places Cape Breton. The truly gifted singer/songwriter Jason MacDonald, (whom, if you don’t know about, you really should) joined us on stage for a very enjoyable musical evening. We then headed to Iona for our last evening. The Legion didn’t disappoint! We played our hearts out and were warmly received to say the least. All along the way we were treated royally! I would like to thank Jason Mingo for playing some sweet guitar with me each evening, and for doing all the driving. He’s a real trooper! And thanks are due to Caralee Murphy for being an outstanding logistics coordinator and tour manager! She handled everything like a pro. Thanks as well to Todd Aucoin for doing some amazing sound, and of course, Music Nova Scotia for helping us all along the way. Hope to see you on the road again soon!
March 15 2006
Thanks to Music Nova Scotia, my favorite source for all things musical in Nova Scotia, I will be doing the Bringin' it Home Tour this year! I’m honored to travel with my good friend Dave Gunning. This year we have an added treat in the form of Steven Bowers, another great friend of mine. Check out the LIVE SHOWS page for more details. I have also started putting together a newsletter for those who are on my mailing list. Each newsletter will include special offers, details on other projects that I’m working on (art and music) and updates. If you’re interested, click on the link to the right of this page and stay in the know! Hope to see you around!

Welcome to 2006! I was recently assured by a fortune cookie that this would be a very happy and prosperous new year for me! I can hardly wait. So many good things happened to me last year that I could not have imagined... Playing at the Metro Centre, going on a great tour with my friend Dave Gunning, the Mians Awards show... I'm sure this year will be equally exciting, if not more. I look forward to playing many great shows , creating new music and art, seeing old friends again and making new ones, and just having an overall happy and prosperous year. Those fortune cookies… they know a thing or two….

Today has been an amazing day! I found out at the Nova Scotia Music Week awards brunch that was held this morning, that I won the MIANS award for Best New Artist!! I was so shocked as I had some very stiff competition, and as a regretful result, didn't give the best acceptance speech. I think I said something like, "Holy Friggin Crap!!" My apologies. Anyhow, I really want to thank MIANS again for helping me out so much! I would also like to thank CBC for all their support and wish them all the best as they endeavour to overcome their lockout. I would also really like to congratulate everyone who was nominated with me in this category. I think every artist out there who is finding his or her way through this business deserves an award. And thanks to everyone who voted for me. It means so much to know that people believe in me and are wishing me the best. And finally, thanks to everyone who has come to a show, bought a CD, and given me the support and encouragement that has gotten me this far. That's really what I meant to say.
September 1, 2005
Life is so predictably unpredictable. So many good things have been blowing my way lately and I really wasn't expecting any of it. For one thing, I was nominated for 2 MIANS awards! One nomination is for best Female Recording of the Year, and the second is for Best New Artist! I am so thankful for the recognition. I've set up a couple of free downloads on the music page so that everyone voting can actually listen to some clips off my album and make their decision based on what they hear. It's best to be educated about these things...you can't just go around throwing out MIANS awards willy-nilly!
As for the other good things, I must bide my time a bit longer to make sure they come about, but I will let you know, I am looking toward great things on the horizon.
July 13, 2005
Hey! Thanks for coming to the site. I'm finally getting around to life again. I was recently happily married to Jason Mingo, my guitar player! It was a joyous occasion. We ended up having a lovely wedding day surrounded by beloved friends and family, and then spent a few days honeymooning in Montreal. What a fabulous city! We were there for the Jazz Festival and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend the experience. Currently, I'm working on getting some shows going for the fall so I'll keep you posted.
May 4, 2005
I just wanted to shout out a big thanks to all those who helped to organize and participate in our Bringing It Home Tour. I had a marvellous time! It was great to play in new places and meet new people. Cape Breton is one of the loveliest places I have ever been, and I hope that won't be the last time I'm there. Dave Gunning was a treat to see three nights in a row and I hope to go on tour again real soon. Thanks again everybody!
April 27, 2005
Last year as a Christmas gift for my Mum and Dad I spent a couple of afternoons recording five of their favourite Hymns to give them on CD. Since then, I have had numerous requests from people wanting a copy so I'm making the songs available as MP3s to anyone who wants them free off my extras page. You will also find the cover available. Enjoy!
April 3, 2005
For the first time in my life, I'm going on tour!! Thanks to MIANS I'm going to be a part of the Bringing It Home Tour. This tour will support eighteen acts, traveling to twenty-seven communities throughout the province of Nova Scotia. I am lucky enough to be accompanying
Dave Gunning, one of my favourite Nova Scotian artists. This guy puts just about everybody else to shame. Please, please, please for your own good, check him out. For more information on the tours, go to my live shows page.
March 27, 2005
My friend Steven Bowers has been working on some new songs/recordings that he asked me to sing background vocals on. I had a lot of fun helping him out with a few tracks. You can listen to them by going to my extras page and looking in the music section.
March 1, 2005
I've found a new home at the Wooden Monkey Restaurant on Thursday nights. I'll be playing every week this month along with special guests. The music starts at 7pm. Come out for delicious organic food, fine company, and sweet music.
Feb 23, 05
Howdy! Just so you know, I'm not dead and haven't fallen off the edge of the world. I've taken to shutting myself in my apartment, admiring the cold from inside. And while I'm in here, I figure I might as well make some new songs. It's coming along slowly... It's a new writing experience for me. The songs on Lost With Directions were written purely for selfish reasons, and it's strange to write new songs knowing I'm going to purposely put them out so that someone other than myself will hear them. It can be a hindrance and a boost at the same time. It will be interesting to see what I actually have the guts to sing out loud...
Jan 15, 2005
Tuesday's Concert for Asia was a huge success. We raised upwards of $105,000 and had a great time doing it. Thanks to the 8,500 people that came out to watch the show, all the amazing musicians who played, and everyone else who donated their time and talents. Check out a review of the concert here, and to see pictures click here

Welcome to 2005! This Tuesday, Jan. 11th I'll be playing a couple of songs at the Metro Centre for a benefit concert. Proceeds go to the Tsunami relief effort. There's an amazing line up of my fellow East Coast artists, there's free parking, and tickets are available at the Metro Centre and Sobeys.
Dec 25, 2004
Merry Christmas everybody!! And have a safe and happy new year!!
Nov 16, 2004
I've got an exciting weekend coming up. Nova Scotia Music Week is starting this Thursday and going until Sunday. It's going to be chalk full of great music and lots of fun. I'm playing a showcase on Saturday night at the Delta hotel and then participating in the songwriting Circle the following day from 2-4 pm. Hope to see you there!
Sept 23, 2004
Things are going well. My album, "Lost With Directions" was the top selling local album for the past few weeks! Many thanks for your support. I restocked the shelves of Sam the Record Man on Barrington St, and CD plus in the Halifax Shopping Centre, so if you are looking for a copy you can find them there. It's also available at CD plus on Barrington Street, and you can now purchase my album on line!
Sept 10, 2004
Thanks to everyone who made my CD release party a huge success! The Bitter End was a great venue to play in, and lots of friends and family came to the show. The band, Jason Mingo, Adam Fine, and Jay Halliwell were in rare form. Special guests Christina Martin and Rose Cousins added fabulous harmonies to my songs. Thanks again to everyone who came out and had a hand in making it a great night.
Shows
I'm plugging my album with lots of performances. I've got some local shows in the works and am planning more for this fall.
