Bell Aliant and Music Nova Scotia presents a special tribute to the eight hired musicians aboard the Titanic. Hosted by Steve Murphy and featuring Meaghan Smith, Lennie Gallant, Bruce Guthro, Jenn Grant, Rhapsody Quintet, Evans and Doherty and a 32-piece orchestra that includes Symphony Nova Scotia musicians, the evening serves as a reminder of the devotion to duty displayed by many during the sinking of the ship. None of the members of the band on the Titanic survived. Jock Hume, a violinist from Dumfries, Scotland and John F. P. Clarke, a bass violinist from Liverpool, England are buried in Halifax. The tribute will take place 100 years to the day the band boarded the Titanic.
